I'm Still Surviving began by bringing dozens of women living with HIV/AIDS together to talk about their life histories as women and long-term survivors. This meant we had lots of intense and intimate conversations about how illness affects their bodies, what living with HIV has meant for their families, and how institutions have alternately treated them badly and helped them heal. They shared photographs from their lives and the History Moves team reciprocated with historical photographs of their neighborhoods and sites of childhood memories. The historical narratives that follow are made from weaving it all together to show what a women's history of HIV/AIDS looks like.
